Brazil does not have new accommodation for young offenders

Data was released on Tuesday (10) by the CNJ - NATIONAL COUNCIL OF JUSTICE (CONSELHO NACIONAL DE JUSTIÇA).

PUNISHMENT
The information is part of the study "Panorama National, the Implementation of  Socioeducational Measures of Internment", performed by the Department of Monitoring and Surveillance System Prison (Departamento de Monitoramento e Fiscalização do Sistema Carcerário - DMF) and the Department of Judicial Research (DPJ).

OVERCROWD
Ceará has an occupancy 
rate of 221%, followed by Pernambuco (178%) and Bahia (160%). Still in the Northeast states of Sergipe (108%), Paraiba (104%) and Alagoas (103%) are overcrowded in their units. In the Midwest, deserves the overhead in the Federal District (129%) and Mato Grosso do Sul (103%). In the Southeast, Minas Gerais has 101% occupancy. In the south, Paraná (111%) and Rio Grande do Sul (108%) also have occupancy exceeds its capacity.
 

Cases of violence

Among the 320 units surveyed, there were cases of sexual abuse suffered by inmates over a period of 12 months in 34 establishments. In 19 there were records of deaths by homicide, in seven, there were cases of deaths from pre-existing illnesses, and two deaths by suicide occurred.
REBELION
Yet when asked about the occurrence of physical aggression, 28% reported physical abuse by employees, 10%, by the military police unit within the Units, and 19% reported having experienced physical punishment.

MORE PUNISHMENT

Damn, if corruption is tackled properly ... and public money is spent wisely and respectfully, perhaps in 2014/2016 we have quiet games ... with all young offenders (hopefully also the corrupt) locked in their cages in correctional institutions for juvenile offenders (not for corrupt, of course).
I firmly believe it!
