THE FIRST BLACK ON THE SUPREME COURT!

Joaquim Barbosa, President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF)


The ceremonial of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) sent two thousand invitations to the inauguration of the Minister Joaquim Barbosa as chairman of the board, held on Thursday in Brasilia (DF).
On the guest list, many are not in the legal area, such as former pilot and businessman Nelson Piquet and actress and presenter Regina Case.

Joaquim Barbosa will be the 44th president of the Supreme Court and the first black on the Supreme Court. Posture and serenity of the new president excites and moves with the Brazilians.

President Dilma Rousseff is expected to be at the event


Who is Joaquim Barbosa

Joaquim Barbosa was born in Paracatu, northwest of Minas Gerais. He is the eldest of eight children.

At 16 went alone to Brasilia, got a job in graphic Mail Brasiliense and finished high school, always studying in public school.

He earned his bachelor's degree in law at the University of Brasilia, where then obtained her Masters in Law.

He was visiting scholar at the Human Rights Institute of the Faculty of Law at Columbia University in New York (1999-2000) and the University of California Los Angeles School of Law (2002 to 2003).

He is fluent in French, English, German and Spanish.
