According to the hospital staff, exams did not indicate need for hospitalization

RIO - Feeling strong body aches, Guilherme Gomes dos Santos, 16, sought help at Pedro II Municipal Hospital in Santa Cruz on Wednesday.
Guilherme a few hours before he died.
The adolescent was diagnosed with tuberculosis and then released to continue medication at home even without improvement, coming to death on the same day.

His condition continued to worsen even after hospital care. He sought night care at another hospital unit, where he died an hour after he was admitted.

'Mom, help, my head hurts, my lung hurts.'

The hospital team pointed out that the teenager should have been admitted to the first visit because of the seriousness of the case.

'This boy was meant to be alive because here in this little unit there was no time to do what was to be done. Here we do not have resources to do a procedure like a big hospital does,' said the doctor.
